United Utilities appoints Moody’s, S&P and Fitch to provide credit rating services to the group for an initial three year term

United Utilities has recently reviewed the rating agency services that are provided to the group and as a result has appointed Moody’s Investors Service Limited (Moody’s), S&P Global Ratings Europe Limited (S&P) and Fitch Ratings Ltd (Fitch) to provide credit rating services to the group for an initial three year term.  This means that United Utilities will continue to maintain solicited ratings with Moody’s and S&P, along with the addition of Fitch (which previously rated United Utilities on an unsolicited basis).

Future debt capital market issuance by the group will therefore benefit from solicited ratings from all three rating agencies: Moody’s, S&P and Fitch.  The long-term ratings on senior unsecured debt obligations issued by the group as at 8 January 2019 are set out below, with all ratings on a stable outlook:

  Moody's S&P Fitch*
United Utilities Water Limited (UUW) A3 A- A-
United Utilities Water Finance PLC A3 A- A-
United Utilities PLC (UU PLC) Baa1 BBB A-
*Fitch long-term Issuer Default Rating for UUW and UU PLC is BBB+ with stable outlook.
