Application process
Throughout our graduate recruitment we use different selection techniques to enable us to find out more about you and your strengths, while also giving you the opportunity to find out more about us. Ultimately this helps us ensure we recruit the best person for the job.
Below you can see examples of the different stages you may be asked to participate in.
Stage 1: Online application
Once you've decided which role to apply for, complete the application form.
Please note: You can only apply for one graduate or internship role per campaign. Please ensure that you look into the roles and apply for the one that suits you the best.
Stage 2: Online tests
Once we've reviewed your application form, you will be asked to complete an online verbal and numerical reasoning assessment, through our recruitment partner, Spotted Zebra.
Stage 3: Interview
You will be invited to attend an interview either in person or over MS Teams. You may be asked to prepare a presentation and to present on the day. This is for us to get to know you better and the type of skills you can bring to us.
Stage 4: Assessment centre
For roles that include an assessment centre, this provides an opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills and experience and learn more about the programme and United Utilities.
Stage 5: Our offer to you
Congratulations on receiving an offer! Before everything is confirmed, we'll carry out a few final checks, including references, proof of your right to work in the UK, evidence of your qualifications and, where required, a medical assessment to ensure you're fit for the role.
Stage 6: Keeping in touch
You will be invited to a "Keep in Touch Day" to meet with your fellow graduates and to meet your new team.
Successful candidates will start with us in September 2027.
