Briarlands Close CSO

To create a more resilient region, we’re committed to improving the health of rivers, lakes and waterways, helping to make the North West stronger, greener and healthier. That commitment includes major investment in our wastewater network and treatment infrastructure, so we can continue to reduce the frequency of combined sewer overflow (CSO) operations.

The new underground storm water storage tank will be constructed within Bramhall precinct car park, which means the car park will need to be temporarily closed during our work. This work will also require a section of the Public Right of Way footpath to be closed (for a short time). Work is due to begin in summer 2025 and is expected to be completed in summer 2026.

  • There will be an increase in vehicles and machinery which will generate noise, dust, and vibration. Our onsite team will do all they can to keep this to a minimum. We’ll also make sure the local community are regularly updated, and our customer representatives will be available to answer any queries throughout the programme of work.

  • The car park and footpath will be put back and re-opened.  The new, visible equipment left behind, will help to maintain the tank. We really appreciate your patience and understanding.

  • Alternative parking is available at Meadway Car Park East, 5 Meadway, Bramhall, Stockport SK7 1JZ. (W3W – search.hunt.ticket)

Meadway Car Park is very close by, at a 2-minute drive or 6-minute walk. The price for parking is also the same as it is for the Bramhall Precinct Car Park.

  • We understand the car park closure will particularly impact those who may have additional needs or health conditions which affect mobility. Applications can be made to Stockport Council for a Blue Badge via their website. The badge will allow holders to park on yellow lines for up to three hours.
