Starting at Ambleside

Update on Rothay Park Parkrun (19 November 2024)

As part of our investment plans to improve water quality in Windermere it is necessary to use some land on Miller's field in Ambleside.  These plans, which are subject to conversations with the landowner and planning permission, will allow us to build a new 4.5 million litre underground storage tank, nearly the equivalent of two Olympic sized swimming pools, and help reduce the number of times that the storm overflow needs to operate in heavy rain. Due to the size of the tank required, network configurations and geography of the area, this is the only location that we can do the work.

We have been working closely with the Rothay Park Parkrun organisers so that they can continue to utilise Miller's field throughout the construction works and have agreed a slight variation to the 5km race route which won't come into effect until early 2025.
