Can I have a combined foul and surface water connection?

You must make 2 separate connections if there are both foul and surface water sewers in the vicinity to your development.

If no surface water sewer is in the vicinity of the development the drainage hierarchy below should be followed, we may accept surface water (rain water) into a combined (public) sewer if no alternative options is available / feasible:

1. Discharge to watercourse
2. Discharge to ground (infiltration)
3. Connection to public surface water sewer network
4. Connection to public combined sewer network

You will need to provide supporting evidence to demonstrate why the first three options cannot be achieved when applying for a combined connection.
